Super Simple Prefold Cloth
Diaper Fold, How to Fold a Prefold Cloth Diaper; Angel Fold
When I first got some second-hand prefold cloth diapers, I thought I wouldn't end up using them. They were sort of bulky, didn't seem to work with my diaper covers, and I had no idea how to fold them. Fast forward to when my baby grew out of her newborn diapers but wasn't quite big enough to fit into the One Size diapers, I discovered that prefold diapers are some of my favorite styles of diapers. They are trimmer than most of your conventional cloth diapers and they pair well with almost any type of diaper cover from wool longies to TPU snap covers. Try this super simple cloth diaper fold called the Angel Fold and see if you don't just fall in love with cloth diapering with prefold diapers!

1. Fold the two Front Corners In
You will want to place the prefold cloth diaper under your baby with the width across their back. You will place the edge of the diaper however high or low up your baby's back as desired. For a shorter length, fold down the back of the diaper until it is as long as you desire. Now you are ready to fold in the two front corners. As depicted, fold the right and left corners of the diaper in towards one another. This should be the part that is between your baby's legs, and this will go up around them when the diaper is on.
2. Fold Middle Up
Once the two corners are folded towards each other, your diaper will look almost like an envelope or the beginning of a paper plane. You are going to fold up this part over your baby's private towards their little tummy. If you are practicing this fold first without a baby, it will look like the image depicted above.
2. Fold the Remaining Corners Around the Waist
Now that the diaper part is pulled up towards your baby's tummy, you are going to take the two remaining corners from the back and fold them in towards the front of the diaper around your baby's waist. Because there is no elastic with prefold cloth diapers you do not want to wrap the corners around too tight. Be sure you can at least put two fingers in between your baby and their diaper.
4. Secure with a Snappi or Diaper Clip
Now that you have the diaper wrapped around your baby, fasten it with a diaper Snappi or diaper pin. Diaper pins are the old-fashioned way of securing prefold diapers, but you risk pocking your baby and I find they can be a bit difficult to put on. A diaper snappy (as pictured above) is super easy to use as a fastener and keeps your baby's diaper on without any risk of poking your baby. If you want, at this point you can also roll in the extra cloth around the legs in towards the diaper. This helps minimize poo leaks and makes pairing with a diaper cover easier.
5. Pair with a Diaper Cover
Now that you have the prefold cloth diaper on your baby, it's time to put on the waterproof diaper cover. I like to use wool cloth diaper covers, but you can use plastic pants, a PUL or TPU cloth cover, or flannel covers, longies, or shorties.
